Baryte on Hematite - UK Mineral
Product Information
A striking natural Baryte on Hematite mineral specimen, weighing approximately 315g and measuring around 79.1 × 45.7mm.
This fascinating specimen features pale translucent to smoky Baryte crystals nestled within a rich, iron-toned crystalline formation, all contrasting beautifully against the dense, dark Hematite matrix.
Across the exposed cavity, the Baryte forms distinct glassy crystals with flashes of translucency when caught by the light. Surrounding them are intricate rusty-red to brown mineral formations, while subtle metallic areas appear throughout the darker matrix. The combination creates incredible texture, depth and contrast despite the specimen's relatively compact size.
The reverse retains much of the solid natural Hematite matrix, making the crystal-filled cavity on the display face even more dramatic. At 315g, this is also an unusually weighty piece for its dimensions something characteristic of the dense iron-rich Hematite matrix.
This is a specimen best appreciated from multiple angles, with new crystal formations, cavities and mineral textures becoming visible as it is turned in the light.
About Baryte & Hematite
Baryte, also known as Barite, is a barium sulphate mineral recognised for its relatively high density and distinctive crystal formations. It can occur alongside metallic and iron-rich minerals, creating highly collectable combination specimens.
Hematite is an iron oxide mineral and one of the world's most important iron ores. Its appearance can vary considerably, from metallic silver-grey formations to the deep reddish-brown and almost black material seen within this specimen.
Together, the pale Baryte crystals and dark Hematite create a particularly striking mineralogical contrast.
Associated Intention
Protection & Grounding
Hematite is traditionally strongly associated with grounding, stability and protection, making this the clearest intention for the piece.
Associated Chakra
Root Chakra
Hematite is commonly associated with the Root Chakra and themes of stability, security and feeling grounded.
