Cerussite Mineral Specimen

A beautiful natural Cerussite specimen from Morocco, displaying soft honey, champagne and near-colourless tones with the bright lustre for which this fascinating mineral is known.

This petite specimen has a wonderfully chunky natural crystal formation, with angular faces creating different levels of transparency across the piece. In direct light, the Cerussite shifts from warm golden-beige through to almost colourless areas, while its reflective surfaces produce a subtle glassy sparkle.

At approximately 22.7 × 18.0mm, this is a miniature mineral specimen, but Cerussite is particularly interesting to collectors because of its distinctive crystal structure, high density and exceptionally bright lustre.

This is also an ex-collection specimen and comes with its accompanying mineral identification card, recording its locality as Mibladen, Khénifra Province, Meknès-Tafilalet Region, Morocco.

Morocco is renowned among mineral collectors for producing beautiful Cerussite specimens, making this an affordable little example from a recognised mineral locality.

Cerussite is a lead carbonate mineral (PbCO₃) that forms as a secondary mineral in the oxidised zones of lead deposits.

It is particularly prized by mineral collectors for its exceptionally high lustre, substantial density and fascinating crystal formations. Cerussite may occur as individual crystals, clusters and complex twinned formations, with colours ranging from colourless and white through to grey, yellow, honey and brown.

Morocco has produced many notable Cerussite specimens, particularly from its historic lead-mining districts.

With a Mohs hardness of approximately 3–3.5, Cerussite is relatively soft and requires careful handling. As a lead-bearing mineral, it should also be treated as a display specimen rather than a handling crystal.
