A beautiful Dragon Scale Calcite crystal specimen from Jinhua, China, featuring translucent golden-yellow Calcite crystals naturally formed across a contrasting grey matrix.

This specimen has a completely different character to the larger Dragon Scale Calcite, with its crystals spreading horizontally across the matrix rather than forming one dominant upright cluster. Multiple pointed, blade-like formations overlap and intersect across the surface, creating the distinctive layered appearance associated with Dragon Scale Calcite.

The Calcite ranges from pale champagne and soft lemon-yellow through to warmer honey tones. Many of the crystals remain beautifully translucent, allowing the light to reveal internal veils, natural fractures and subtle flashes within the formations.

The contrast between the luminous golden Calcite and flat grey matrix makes the individual crystals particularly striking, while the exposed areas of matrix preserve the specimen's wonderfully natural mineral appearance.
