A fascinating natural Hematite on Calcite specimen from Cumbria, England, measuring approximately 70.2 × 60.0mm.

This characterful British mineral specimen combines dark, iron-rich Hematite with contrasting Calcite, creating an incredibly textured formation filled with earthy colour and natural detail.

Across the specimen, metallic grey to almost black Hematite formations sit amongst softer pale Calcite and warm rust, reddish-brown and ochre tones. Sections of the piece display an almost botryoidal, rounded texture, while other areas reveal crystalline surfaces and layered mineral growth.

One of its most striking features is the deep red-brown exposed section visible along the lower face, beautifully contrasting against the lighter Calcite and metallic Hematite above. Turned in the light, small crystalline and metallic surfaces catch and reflect the sunlight, revealing considerably more detail than is immediately visible from a single angle.
