Hematite & Quartz - West Cumbria - UK Mineral
Product Information
A striking natural Hematite and Quartz mineral specimen from West Cumbria, combining rich iron-red and dark metallic mineralisation with a beautifully crystallised Quartz-filled cavity.
The specimen has a wonderfully rugged geological appearance, with deep rust-red, earthy brown and near-black Hematite-rich matrix surrounding an exposed seam of Quartz. Within the central cavity, clusters of translucent crystals line the opening, creating a sparkling contrast against the dense, iron-rich host rock.
From different angles, further pockets and seams of Quartz can be seen running through the specimen, while the surrounding matrix displays layered red, brown and metallic-grey tones characteristic of its iron-rich composition.
Measuring approximately 76.4 × 66.6mm, this is a substantial raw specimen with plenty of natural texture and mineral interest. Rather than being polished or altered for decorative purposes, its raw formation allows the relationship between the Hematite-rich matrix and crystalline Quartz to remain beautifully visible.
Its West Cumbrian provenance adds another layer of interest for collectors, particularly those building a collection of British minerals and locality specimens.
About Hematite & Quartz
Hematite is an iron oxide mineral known for appearing in forms ranging from metallic steel-grey through to deep earthy red and brown. Its name is linked historically to the red colour produced by powdered Hematite, even when the mineral itself appears much darker.
Quartz frequently occurs alongside other minerals within veins, cavities and fractures in host rock. In this specimen, the contrasting Quartz crystals create naturally sparkling pockets amongst the much darker and earthier Hematite-rich material.
Together, the two minerals create a particularly characterful specimen, combining crystalline growth with the rugged iron mineralisation associated with the piece.
Associated Intention
Protection & Grounding
Hematite is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and protection. It is often chosen when seeking a stronger sense of balance, security and connection to the present moment.
Associated Chakra
Root Chakra
