Pyrite on Shungite Display Specimen

A striking Pyrite on Shungite mineral specimen, displayed on its own permanently attached black metal stand and featuring a dramatic contrast between deep charcoal-black Shungite and naturally metallic Pyrite crystal growth.

The front of this specimen has a beautifully sculptural formation, with a pronounced central ridge running through the dark matrix. Across either side are clusters of metallic Pyrite, ranging from tiny sparkling crystals to larger, more defined geometric formations. In the light, the Pyrite shifts between bright gold, brassy and silvery metallic tones against the almost matte black surface beneath.

Rather than covering the entire specimen, the Pyrite follows sections of the natural structure, creating concentrated areas of sparkle while leaving plenty of the dark Shungite exposed. The reverse remains predominantly black and raw in appearance, making the highly mineralised front even more dramatic.

Mounted upright on its minimalist black stand, this is a ready-to-display collector specimen with a dark, almost otherworldly aesthetic.

About Pyrite on Shungite

Pyrite is an iron sulphide mineral instantly recognisable for its metallic lustre and naturally occurring geometric crystal formations. Its distinctive brassy appearance has earned it the traditional nickname “Fool's Gold.”

Shungite is a naturally carbon-rich mineraloid known for its deep black to charcoal colouring and predominantly matte appearance.

Together, the metallic Pyrite and dark Shungite create an especially dramatic mineral combination, with reflective crystalline growth standing prominently against the black matrix.
