Harmotome is an uncommon member of the zeolite group and is particularly sought after by mineral collectors. This substantial Scottish specimen displays pale Harmotome crystal growth across the matrix alongside contrasting Calcite, creating a wonderfully complex natural surface filled with crystalline texture, cavities and layered mineral formations.
Across the display face, delicate pale crystals sit amongst larger cream-white Calcite formations, with subtle metallic and darker mineral inclusions providing contrast. The reverse reveals a substantial mass of translucent to smoky-grey Calcite, making the specimen fascinating from virtually every angle.
Its size alone gives this piece considerable presence, but its Strontian provenance and uncommon Harmotome mineralisation make it particularly special.
