Scolecite from India - (Ex Collection)
Product Information
A fascinating natural Scolecite specimen from India, featuring beautifully defined radiating crystal formations across its natural matrix.
This specimen has a completely different character to the cleaner white zeolite pieces, with warm cream, beige and earthy tones giving it a wonderfully natural mineralogical appearance. Across the piece, elongated Scolecite crystals form in distinctive sprays and radiating fan-like formations, creating striking lines and texture throughout the specimen.
One side reveals particularly beautiful elongated crystal growth, where tightly packed bladed crystals run across the surface in almost parallel formations. Turning the specimen reveals further sprays emerging from the matrix, alongside small cavities and areas of darker natural host rock.
Rather than being pristine or heavily cleaned, this piece retains plenty of its original earthy matrix and mineral staining, which gives it the character of a traditional collector's specimen and makes the crystal structure particularly interesting to examine.
This Scolecite comes from a previous private collection and is offered as a one-of-a-kind collector's specimen.
Measuring approximately 91.7 × 44.9mm, it is a lovely elongated specimen with plenty of detail across multiple sides.
About Scolecite
Scolecite is a member of the zeolite mineral group and is particularly well known for forming slender, needle-like or bladed crystals. These crystals can occur individually but frequently develop into beautiful radiating sprays and fan-shaped formations like those visible across this specimen.
India is especially renowned among mineral collectors for its remarkable zeolite deposits, which have produced Scolecite alongside minerals such as Stilbite, Apophyllite and Heulandite.
Its delicate crystal habit and naturally sculptural formations make Scolecite particularly attractive as a display and study specimen.
