Turkish Epidote & Quartz Crystal Cluster

A spectacular natural Epidote specimen from Turkey, featuring an incredibly dense covering of deep green-black Epidote crystals interspersed with contrasting clear to milky Quartz.

This is such a beautifully complex piece. The surface is covered with clusters of sharply formed, elongated Epidote crystals, ranging from rich olive green through to exceptionally dark forest green that appears almost black in places. Under bright light, the individual crystals reveal flashes of their characteristic green colouring and glossy lustre.

Growing amongst the Epidote are numerous Quartz crystals, including beautifully defined transparent and translucent points. The pale Quartz creates a dramatic contrast against the dark Epidote, while areas of warm brown natural matrix and smaller crystalline growth give the specimen even more texture and depth.

Viewed from different angles, the formation changes completely. Some areas are dominated by thick Epidote crystals, while others reveal pockets of Quartz, tiny points and densely layered mineral growth. It has the wonderfully wild, untouched appearance that makes natural combination specimens so fascinating to collect.

Measuring approximately 93.3 × 68.0mm, this is a substantial display specimen with exceptional visual impact and plenty of mineralogical detail to explore.

About Epidote

Epidote is a calcium aluminium iron sorosilicate mineral, recognised for its characteristic pistachio, olive and deep green colouring. Well-formed specimens can develop elongated, prismatic crystals with distinctive striations and a beautiful glassy lustre.

Epidote is frequently found alongside other minerals, particularly Quartz, creating striking combination specimens where dark green crystalline growth contrasts against clear or milky Quartz.

This Turkish specimen is particularly attractive for the sheer abundance of Epidote across the matrix, with larger glossy crystals surrounded by finer green growth and numerous contrasting Quartz formations.
