UK Fluorite - Rogerley Mine Weardale
Product Information
A beautiful natural Fluorite specimen from the famous Rogerley Mine in Weardale, County Durham, featuring translucent green Fluorite crystals nestled within contrasting natural matrix.
The exposed crystal pocket is filled with wonderfully defined Fluorite formations, displaying soft sea-green to deeper green tones that become particularly luminous when caught by the light. Several of the crystals show the distinctive geometric faces associated with Fluorite, creating a fascinating window of colour within the darker brown-grey host rock.
Rather than being completely removed from its matrix, this specimen retains much of its original surrounding rock, preserving the relationship between the Fluorite and the material in which it naturally formed. One side has been opened to reveal the concentrated crystal pocket within, giving the piece an almost geode-like appearance.
Measuring approximately 61.9 × 36.5mm, it is a compact specimen but one with significant collector appeal thanks to its distinctive colour, crystal formation and documented British locality.
This specimen originates from the Rogerley Mine in Weardale, County Durham, a locality internationally known amongst mineral collectors for its beautiful green Fluorite. Mining at Rogerley has now ceased, making specimens from the locality a lovely piece of British mineral-collecting history.
